Plastic race in the Iskar region
The "Plastic Race" campaign,
traditionally organized by Bulecopack and the Iskar District - Sofia
Municipality, has ended and the schools that collected the largest amount of
plastic bottles and aluminum cans are now known. The initiative has become
traditional for the region and aims to motivate adolescents and their families
to collect their packaging waste separately.
8 schools took part in the campaign, which had
2 weeks to collect the largest possible amount of plastic bottles and aluminum
cans. The collected waste was weighed and transported by Bulecopack for
subsequent recycling. With the active participation of all students, their
families and teachers, the total amount collected was more than 700 kg.
Due to the great interest in the “Plastic
Race” campaign, two first prizes were announced this year – for the school that
collected the largest amount of packaging waste based on 1 student studying at
the school and for the school that collected the largest total net amount,
regardless of the number of students studying at the school. The winners in
both categories are respectively 4 Primary School “Prof. John Atanasov”, which
handed over 181,500 kg and 108 Secondary School “Nikola Belovezhdov”, which
collected 188,500 kg. They will be awarded by Bulecopack with tennis tables.
The other schools that participated in the
campaign also managed to hand over large amounts of packaging. All of them will
receive various sports equipment as a reward for their efforts and willingness
to join the initiative. Here are their results:
163 Primary School “Chernorizets Hrabar” –
116,400 kg.
68 SU SU "Acad. Nikola Obreshkov" – 94,
400 kg.
69 SU SU "Dimitar Marinov" – 65, 800
kg.
150 OU "Tsar Simeon Parvi" – 53, 200
kg.
65 OU "St. St. Cyril and Methodius"
– 10 kg.
89 OU OU "Dr. Hristo Stambolski" – 6

We thank all schools for joining the
initiative with such a desire and thus showing their responsible attitude and
desire to reduce packaging waste.
