Recycling Open Day
This is how the Recycling Open Day, which took place on May 31, went
The interest in the event was truly impressive – nearly 100,000 people visited the packaging waste separation site. It was especially gratifying that among them there were many families with children, who followed the path of the waste with great interest after it was thrown into the colored containers.
Among the visitors were also many people who have been collecting their waste separately for more than 20 years. It was important for them to see what happens after the truck picks up the waste – where it goes, how it is sorted and how it is prepared for subsequent recycling.
We received a lot of positive feedback, because people were able to see with their own eyes that their efforts over the years have a real result.
We were also able to show the difference between the specialized trucks that service the containers for paper, plastic and metal, and those for glass. The visitors saw that these are different technologies and different service systems. Thus, we managed to debunk one of the most common myths – that waste is collected and mixed in the same truck.
The most valuable thing for us was that people left more confident and motivated to continue collecting separately, because when you show the whole process up close, trust is built much easier!
Special thanks also to the students from the National High School of Applied Arts "St. Luke", who showed the children what interesting things plastic, paper and glass packaging can be turned into.
We thank everyone who visited the event and proved that together we can make recycling more understandable, more accessible and more effective.
